Public Hearing - Thursday, August 14th at 6:30 pm

A Public Hearing will be held on Thursday, August 14th, at 6:30 pm in Council Chambers, located at 400 Main Street. Members of the public can attend and speak at the hearing, or hand in written submissions. Written submissions can be emailed to admin@townofyarmouth.ca, or delivered to Town Hall, and must be received by 12 pm (noon) on August 12th, 2025.
What is the Hearing About?
This Public Hearing will address two separate items as follows:
Proposed Amendments to the Municipal Planning Strategy and the Land Use Bylaw
In response to Council-approved Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF) Action Plan, the Town has initiated rezonings of four Town-owned properties (56 Tooker St (PID# 90211442), 37 Argyle St (PID# 90212820), 22 Chester St (PID# 90205428), and 4 Bond St (PID# 90213067) associated with and in support of HAF's Action Plan Initiative #1- Surplus Lands for Affordable Housing Program. The proposed rezonings are one of several necessary steps before the Program may be formally developed by staff, approved by Council and launched by the Town later this year. Amendments to the Municipal Planning Strategy and the Land Use Bylaw are also proposed to accommodate the proposed rezonings.
Council has approved to move forward with a Public Hearing prior to consideration of the proposed amendments.
