On December 11th, 2023, the Town received a request from the owner of 249 Pleasant Street to expand their existing accessory buildings beyond the currently allowable square footage maximum identified in the Land Use Bylaw (LUB).

The proposed LUB amendments will simplify the approvals and development of accessory buildings in commercial areas.

    This is to serve notice that the Council of the Town of Yarmouth at its meeting on April 11th, 2024 at 6:30 pm, at Yarmouth Town Hall, 400 Main Street, approved the following:

    Accessory Buildings in Commercial Zones

    Council approved amendments to the Town of Yarmouth Land Use Bylaw intended to simplify the review, approvals and development of accessory buildings in commercial zones. More specifically, the amendments address matters such as the size of accessory buildings or the number of allowable accessory buildings on individual commercial lots.

    14 Day Appeal Period

    Appeal may be made to the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board within fourteen days (14) of the publication of this notice. Any aggrieved person, the Provincial Director of Planning or Council of an adjoining Municipality may, within the prescribed appeal period, appeal the decision of Council to the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board in accordance with the Municipal Government Act.

    A Public Hearing will be held on Thursday, April 11th, 2024 at 6:30 pm in Council Chambers, located at 400 Main Street. Members of the public can attend and speak at the hearing, or hand in written submissions. Written submissions can be emailed to admin@townofyarmouth.ca, or delivered to Town Hall, and must be received by 12:00 pm (noon) on April 8th, 2024.
