In November 2023, the Town of Yarmouth introduced the Road Trails Designation Bylaw and designated Water Street as a road trail, allowing off-highway vehicles (OHVs) to travel through the Town and connect two established rail trails.
The Town is now considering whether additional streets should be designated as road trails to provide OHV access to local businesses and services.
This survey invites residents to share their experiences, perspectives, and concerns regarding OHV access on designated Town roads. Your feedback will help Council better understand the potential impacts and benefits of road trails and inform future decisions, including whether to expand the road trail network within the Town.
DEFINITIONS:
- OHV designates an “off-highway vehicle”, and also dirt bike, or other Off-Highway Vehicle (also known as “ATVs”) that meet requirements of the Provincial Road Trails Act.
- “Road trail” means the shoulder and travelled portion of a highway designated under the Town of Yarmouth's Road Trails Designation Bylaw (Bylaw 80) (Bylaw 80)
