A Public Hearing will be held on March 12th, 2026 at 6:30 pm in Council Chambers, located at 400 Main Street. Members of the public can attend and speak at the hearing, or hand in written submissions. Written submissions can also be emailed to admin@townofyarmouth.ca, or delivered to Town Hall, and must be received by 12 pm (noon) on March 9th, 2026.

What is the Hearing About?

This Public Hearing will address the following item:

1. Road Closure

The Town has initiated closure of approximately 500 square metres of existing road adjacent (shown below) between 1 Forest St and 228 Main Street to allow for the intended sale of the former Tourist Bureau (also known as the former Visitor Information Centre). As part of the road closure process several housekeeping amendments to the Land Use Bylaw and the Municipal Planning Strategy are also proposed.

Council has approved to move forward with a Public Hearing prior to consideration of the road closure and associated amendments. For more information visit https://getinvolvedyarmouth.ca/HAF-planning-amendments.

Note to Readers: Planning matters and Public Hearings are always posted online. Ahead of Public Hearings, we issue community notifications through our "Alertable" service, post details on our Facebook page, and on our website at townofyarmouth.ca. Even more details are always available at GetInvolvedYarmouth.ca. In the coming months, we plan to focus even more on these online platforms, while printing less detailed notices in newspaper format. We are open to your thoughts on this plan, and you can email your comments to martin.beck@townofyarmouth.ca
